WHO WE ARE

New Century Singers Whittier began over 60 years ago as PTA Mothersingers. We changed our name at the millennium. Our membership consists of multi-generational women who love to sing and serve the community.
We present three concerts annually: Fall, Christmas and Spring.
Local performances help raise money to support our scholarship fund. Scholarship seekers audition from Community Colleges and 4-year Colleges and Universities. We are proud to feature them at our Spring Concert.
Under the dynamic leadership of our director, Judy Kertes and our accompanists, Scarlet Brais and Russ Litchfield, we continue to grow in musical ability and in membership.
As members of the larger California Women's Chorus we enjoy bonding with statewide CWC members in friendship and the joy of creating beautiful music at their annual convention.
California Women's Chorus
New Century Singers Whittier is part of the California Women’s Chorus Organization.
The California Women's Chorus, Inc. (CWC) is a non-profit organization devoted to the encouragement of choral singing among women throughout the state of California. Under its corporate charter, the philanthropic purpose of this organization is to raise funds for vocal scholarships which are presented at the annual Convention Scholarship Concert.
Today the CWC has 10 individual choruses with over 300 members from San Diego in the south to the Bay Area in the north. Some of the choruses present musical programs of varied melodies, from old standards to folk songs, show tunes and seasonal favorites. Other groups incorporate costumes, dance numbers and comedy into their programs. Some groups have toured and performed while visiting Asia, Europe and Hawaii.
The women’s choruses mainly perform in and around their own communities at senior residences, hospitals, local service groups, churches and public concerts. In this way, funds are raised for the scholarships which are presented at the annual convention and concert. Also featured at the annual concert are the vocalists chosen to receive scholarships to pursue a career in vocal music.
